The export value of Indonesian furniture products
continues to increase. However, Indonesia still ranks 18-th as furniture
products exporter, with export value of USD 1.8 billion. To enhance further the
exports value, Indonesia wanted to hold back IFEX. The exhibition event is the second
exhibition after IFEX 2014 held last year. This event will be held on 12 to 15
March 2015 in Jakarta International Expo. In this event, is expected to
accelerate the growth of the furniture industry and national craft.
This exhibition is also held by an association of Indonesian
rattan furniture and handicrafts. They hope to foster innovation and creativity
in craft furniture manufacturers nationwide in various aspects, especially in the
design and materials quality. With optimal added value, Indonesia hopes to become
a market leader in the global market. In addition, the exhibition also aims to
build a positive image of Indonesia in the international level. Indonesia wants
to build its image as a producer of furniture and handicraft products in the
world.
The exhibition is designed as furniture and
handicraft exhibitions in Indonesia and in the region. The event will be
attended by almost all the major players and crafts furniture industry
nationwide. There are more than 700 furniture producer that occupies an area of
60,000 sqm gross in JIExpo Kemayoran Jakarta. The exhibit will showcase
innovative products with the latest design of the popular companies.

Implementation IFEX 2015 is fully supported by the
Government instance including Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Commerce,
Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, local government, and national stakeholders.
The exhibition was also attended by participants from foreign countries like
China, Taiwan, Belgium, France, USA, Italy, Singapore, South Africa, Malaysia,
the Netherlands and Austria. In this exhibition was also held 70 new design
work produced by 100 Indonesian Young Designers.
IFEX is an effective platform for the promotion of
sustainable wood products in Indonesia. It is also means to campaign Indonesia
wood product potential to the world. Through IFEX 2015, the Indonesian
furniture and handicraft industry is expected to continue to grow. Indonesia
hopes to have the chance to become the largest producer of furniture and crafts
in the region, even the world.
Based on the results of a survey conducted by a team
of experts, furniture products were most in demand at IFEX 2014 was a
product-based furniture and handicraft rattan, outdoor furniture, bedroom,
living room and dining room, office furniture, and classic furniture, and home
decor. While the buyer or foreign visitor who comes in IFEX 2014 is recorded
from Australia, China, United States, Malaysia, Singapore, India, the
Netherlands, France, Germany, Britain, the Middle East and other countries,
amounting to more than 2,000 buyers from total 6,113 buyers overall.
