Jogja International Heritage Walk, 15 Nov 2014 - 16 Nov 2014, Save the Nature, Respect the Culture, Jogja to the World

Jogja Walking Association again organized international sports events, the Jogja International Heritage Walk (JIHW), on 15 and 16 November 2014. This event will be held at two locations, namely Prambanan and Selopamioro Village, Bantul, Imogiri, that is an area of cultural heritage. One purpose of holding JIHW is to implement a healthy lifestyle by walking. In addition, to introduce and promote the cultural heritage of Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta with the motto "Let's Walk Bring Us Together."

With the theme "Save the Nature, Respect the Culture, Yogyakarta to the World", you are invited to walk through the route of recreation and sport 5 km, 10 km, and 20 km. In this event, one of the princesses of the kingdom of Yogyakarta, GKR Pembayun, will give the International Marching League medals and the Royal Medal. This medal specifically for pedestrians who can travel 20 miles over 2 days.

Until recently, there were 200 participants from 13 countries: South Korea, USA, Australia, Netherlands, Italy, England, Denmark, Japan, Belgium, Russia, Germany, Taiwan and France. Indonesia represented by Yogyakarta has been officially confirmed as a member of Walking League International (International Marching League - IML) and Indonesia is the first country to qualify for the official entry in ASEAN and IVV Sports League (Internationaler Volkssportverband) which was announced in France on May 7, 2013.

JIHW initiated by GKR Pembayun as Chairman of Jogja Walking Assoaciation since 2008, under the direction of Jakarta Walking Association and the Japan Walking Association. The event also received support from the Department of Tourism DIY cooperate with various parties including PT.Taman Prambanan and Borobudur Tourism. This event also involves a community of lovers walking DIY, Green Community, Community Education, Scouting Saka Bhayangkara Sleman, Fences Kolim and 400 volunteers from university students in Yogyakarta.

Jogjakarta is a city that is worth visiting. Yogyakarta is known as a city abundant with cultural heritage, such as the various ceremonies and events shaped the ancient objects and historic buildings. One of them is Prambanan that no doubt its allure, it is the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia which built the 9th century. The temple was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia, and one of the most beautiful temples in Southeast Asia. The architecture of the building is tall and slender shaped according to the Hindu architecture in general. Likewise, the famous Borobudur Buddhist temple with its glory.

In addition, the Village Selopamioro is equally interesting. The village has Selopamioro bridge are in place which are characterized by hills karts at the border of Gunung Kidul and Bantul so as to fascinate tourists. Steep hill between the bridge and the river Oya is an amazing sight. Visitors will also be awarded a gentle breeze and green rice fields and hills during the rainy season.
